Jawaharlal Nehru Architecture and Fine Arts University, Hyderabad, was established in 1940 and later the college was merged with the JNT University (Estd. 1972) and became a constituent college under this university.

Later the JNT University was bifurcated and divided into four unique universities such as JNTU Ananthapur, JNTU Kakinada, JNTU Hyderabad, & JNAFA University, Hyderabad established under AP Legislature Act No. 31 of 2008.

After the bifurcation, the university runs courses as per their norms and conditions with the recognition of University Grants Commission (UGC) under Act, 1956.

The aim of the university is to prepare the students for creative and applied responsibilities in the world of Art and Design.

It is a co-educational university, providing regular courses in which is located in the urban part of Hyderabad played a pioneering role in the field of higher education.

University At A Glance:

The university has its roots in College of Fine Arts, which started as a 'School of Arts and Crafts' to promote arts and local crafts.

The university has gradually grown in stature as the "Government College of Arts and Architecture" under the management of the Department of Technical Education, Government of Telangana, Hyderabad.

The university has received many awards and accolades at a city, state and national level for their educational advancements also received the numbers of achievements awards in the field of sports and curricular activities under the Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Telangana.

JNAFAU has two constituent colleges which offer several undergraduates, postgraduate and Ph.D. research programs, with an emphasis on two different colleges:

• School Of Planning & Architecture
• College of Fine Arts.

At present, College of Fine Arts offers 4 years of the program in Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) and 2 years of Master of Fine Arts (MFA) Courses.

School Of Planning & Architecture offers 5 undergraduate courses in Architecture stream and 4 years Bachelor Technology with various specializations.

It also offers two years postgraduate course in Architecture, Engineering, Diploma streams with various specializations.

The university has its own selection process unlike other colleges under Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Telangana. The college has an online application process where prospective applicants are expected to fill in their interests and academic achievements.

It also undertakes admissions under National Integration Scheme (NIS) and is based on the merit obtained by the aspirants with a minimum aggregate of 50% in their previous courses in the relevant field.

Such candidates should examine whether their percentage marks (Best of Four/PCB/PCM, whichever is applicable) falls within the cut- off percentage declared by the college for admission in different courses.

University examinations of different courses, examinations conducted by Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Telangana, and various other examinations are held in the college premises.
